Indian Institute of Technology Madras, is one among the foremost institutes of national importance in higher technological education, basic and applied research.

Entrance test: Humanities & Social Sciences Entrance Exam (HSEE), 2012

Programme:

• Integrated Master of Arts Programme (M.A) in Development Studies
• Integrated Master of Arts Programme (M.A) in English

Duration: 5 years

Age limit: For General category candidates the date of birth should not be earlier than October 01, 1987 and for SC/ST/PD category candidates, it should not be earlier than October 01, 1982.

Eligibility:

• Candidate must have passed the qualifying examination (QE) namely, XII standard OR equivalent OR will be appearing QE in 2012.
• Candidates of General and OBC categories must secure atleast 60% marks and those of SC, ST and PD candidates must secure atleast 55% marks in aggregate in the QE.

• Payment of examination fee is only through Indian Bank Chalan, which will be generated along with the application form.
• Examination fee is Rs. 800/- for SC/ST/PD (male applicants) and Rs. 1600/- for all others. Female candidates (all category) can apply free of cost.
